The Corn Maze, was a"maze"ing...

Last night we went to Mr. C's Haunted Corn Maze. Aniston was racing through all the paths, trying to find the way out.

Ohh...my...gosh...it would be crazy and so scary at night trying to find your way through and I would freak out if there were people in there trying to scare me and chase me. I hate Halloween because of the scary and I love Halloween because of the little kids and the candy;)

Fun Times...

This weekend was full of fun (for me anyway). Friday the kids and I made Halloween sugar cookies. Making cookies is a job, but including 4 kids in the process is madness. I was having them help me count the number of cups of sugar and flour that we included and our counts were never the same. I dumped the flour back in the canister 3 different times due to our mis-matched numbers! <Eating the dough is the best part, right? (don't tell Ryan. He thinks its nasty and he is WRONG)

a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiET9pa4uDIM0Q7xAXQmXj0Ki1SMCLGZbhqyAzLlxJnCqxNGbobfezAoOCvdzUdI72ymsvGpmIaZBMI-ceG3pf8sPa6cWEaDDHMi9X1WYwgpiZizafObGYTJTVAYY6Vp_ynWqqrWg_3USrN/s1600-h/000_0475.jpg">

Friday night my mom took the girls home with her for a sleep over, which I am positive that there was a good time had by them all. They played beauty shop and came home with bright pink and orange fingernails. Grandmas are the best, aren't they! And thanks to grandma, Ryan and I got a night out on the town. (ha, ha) Our exciting night on the town included a trip to Walmart for pics and supplies for the retreat and dinner out! Aren't we the most exciting couple ever! We got home, watched a few DVR recorded shows and were in bed before 10!! We both had stuff going on on Saturday! The reason for the sleepover and the date night was because I was going to the Holiday retreat with some friends.
It was a lot of fun. I got to spend the day with Dani and Misty and we got to spend all day creating cute stuff!!
Thanks girls for a fun filled day! I really had SO MUCH FUN!! (I had pics of the two of you, but I didn't think it would be nice of me to post them, since I didn't have one of myself, and we didn't get one of the 3 of us:(. )

On a different note, has anyone been to a corn maze with kids? Is it fun? Will my girls like doing it? There is one in town and I think it would be fun and tonight is family night, so no scary stuff. I just need to talk Ryan into it...that might be tough!

3 Times this week...

I have heard this saying "enjoy it while it last, soon your babies will be your age". I have been taking my little children for granted. I have been crazy, busy with laundry, cleaning, crafting, and bills. I realize that I spend way too much time worrying about all of the things that only matter right this second. I love to have a clean house, but should that take precedence over taking a minute to play pretend kitchen? I spent an hour making dinner last night and then more time cleaning it up. Could that hour have been spent coloring with the girls?
Ryan and I were talking about little ones ending up in our bed. I have been telling Aniston to go back to her bed when she wakes up in the night, because a queen sized bed is just too small for a family of 4. Ryan told me not to do that, because soon, she won't want to come and cuddle with us at all.
What the heck have I been doing!! I am wasting all of this time, we could be playing dress-up and coloring and laughing and being completely silly. So I am going to be better. I am going to be a better mom! I want to play more and I want to work less! I want to color more and wash dishes less!! Aniston was Emersons age just yesterday! So sad=(

After a CRAZY weekend...

I really did have intentions of posting last Friday about the winner, I really did have intentions of posting about our successful deer hunt, I really did have good intentions of working on my Mistletoe Mall items all day on Sunday. Instead my sister came, we visited all day on Friday. Friday night we went to bed at 9:00 so we could get up at 4:30 to go hunting. Saturday morning we went hunting and hiked a lot, but have yet to see what a deer looks like. Saturday we got home and I went to my moms to pick up Emerson. She sounded horrible and then she coughed and couldn't breath. It SCARED the crap out of me. I decided to run her to the hospital and have them check her out. We got there, they gave her a breathing treatment and then the Dr. wanted to keep us over night. AAHHHHH!!!!! So needless to say, I had a crappy night. Sunday we got home at about 2 in the afternoon and I layed around and held my poor little baby. It is so scary! She still is making me nervous. She sounds horrible. So now this week I am going to play catch-up!! Laundry, clean house, sew, and hold my sick little baby.

So now that you all had to listen to my rambling... The winner is....it was super hard to decide...and I narrowed it down to 2... and then I just really kept coming back to this one...because it was short and sweet and to the point... and just really how I feel about my sweet family right now...okay, okay, I know you just want me to tell you...

Danyette, you are the winner for the "Happiness is...this" quote. Really, thanks everyone for playing and for checking out my blog. I am definitely going to do this again. It was super fun and I really just like making things and giving them away!!
My email address is kbrinacolby@yahoo.com. Danyette email me your address and I will send them out right away!!

And the winner is...

Due to my sisters untimely visit and our need to go to the pumpkin patch with our cute kiddies, a few more quotes slipped in yesterday and I didn't get to see them until this morning. And I really liked a few of them. Ryan and I picked a winner, but now I might have to change my mind. I'll have to check with him. So the winner will be picked later today and I will post the winner later . Then you will have to email me your address and I will send them to you.

SORRY!!! They were all great! It was such a hard decision. Thanks for playing everyone!!

Emerson's hair cut

Tuesday, I decided that it was time for Emerson to have her hair cut. OOHHH how I hate cutting off hair that took so long to grow. It was getting so long and wouldn't do anything. So I called and got her an appointment. She was not into the idea of setting in the chair, so after some bribing (you know all of you moms do it too) she agreed. She was so serious the whole time. Not cracking a smile, not even a little one. She started cutting, ooohh isn't is a bittersweet thing. The first real haircut, watching those little baby locks of hair fall to the ground, traiding in the baby hair for a little girl haircut. I wanted to cry a little. My baby just doesn't look like a baby anymore.

Now are you ready for the cutest thing I have ever seen?

and the back...

I seriously am in love with this child. I really, truely feel like she is the cutest thing in this entire world. I am so glad that she is mine. Isn't she cute and oh, so grown up with this new little "bob haircut"?

and one more thing. I am pretty sure I have decided a winner for the pumpkins. I just want to make sure Ryan agrees. Check back later tonight. I will post the winner!! Its not set in stone, so if you've got a good one. Leave a comment. You could still win =o)

Deep thoughts tag...

1. If every job paid $50,000 a year, and you had no physical or mental limitations, what would you do?
I would love to be a wedding planner. Helping people prepare for thier perfect day. A job that requires you to only deal with happiness, perfect, if you ask me!!
2. What is your current church calling? What do you like about it? What have some of your other callings been? I don't have one and have never had one. Church is a scary thing for me. (but that is a whole other story!
3. Name a person you regularly encounter (outside your family) who brightens your day. My old boss, Dallas. I don't see him as often as I used to, but we were like brother and sister. We could talk about anything. We were really oppisites, but liked a lot of the same things (like Friends, the tv show). Everytime I see him now, he still makes me smile.
4. In twenty years, what do you think you will miss most about your life now? Having children in my house everyday. The messes, the noise, and the large amount of little shoes that are strewn all over the house.
5. What’s something you appreciate about your spouse? That he is so sweet and caring. He always likes to love and kiss all of us, everyday! (lucky us)
6. What is your favorite routine, household chore?
I really don't love any of them, but I like to do the dishes, only because I love an empty sink.
7. What’s a book you return to occasionally (besides the scriptures.)? The Anita Standsfield books. All of them. I have read them all about 5 times. They are really good.
8.Favorite Small Pleasure:
Watching General Hospital. It is dramatic and silly most of the time, but I love it. I DVR it and watch it when it is quite and I am by myself.
9. Favorite time of the day?
8:30 at night. The kids are in bed, the house is clean, and I get to watch my shows in peace=)
10. Name a person who performed what they thought was a small act of service, but ended up being a big deal to you: When I was pregant with Emerson and sick everyday, my mother-in-law would send dinner home. I would pick Aniston up from her house after working all day, she would give me something to take home for dinner almost everyday. It was a good thing because I was always exhasted and sick. My family didn't starve because of her. It meant a lot to me!
11. Name someone who somehow changed your life:
My friend Melissa. She had cancer at the age of 28. She was a single mother, going to nursing school, still worked, and never one time did she have a bad attitude about the whole thing. She made me see that anything is possible.
12. Consider what you do each day. Think of one attribute or trait that you bring to your daily work that is a strength—what is something you do really well? I think that I am a busy person. Is that a good thing, I'm not really sure, but it is how I manage to get everything done. I like to be doing something all the time. I watch tv and have a project on my lap. We go somewhere in the car and I have a project, we go camping and I take projects. I just like to be busy!!

Now I tag anyone who wants to do this one...

And remember the give away... only today and tomorrow left. The pumpkins could be yours, just leave a cute family related saying...

Pumpkins, Pumpkins, whos got the pumpkins?

Here are the instructions for the pumpkins.
But remember I am giving them away. Just leave me a favorite quote or saying, having to do with family, love, eating. I am going to pick on Thursday and send them out to the winner on Friday.

Now to the instructions. I tried to do this yesterday, but blogger wasn't cooperating.

So I bought 4 quarter flats, fat quarters, or quarter fats(everywhere calls them something different). One of each color.

Next I ironed everything. Then decided which size you want each pumpkin. I wanted my orange one the biggest. Fold the material and cut so that you have a front and a back. (I think mine was something like 10x8)

Then fold the front piece in half with the right sides together. Then at the fold side, sew a diagnal line from the top towards the fold. Then trim off the part that you sewed.
Cut out of the green, enough stems for all the pumpkins. sew them (with the patterned sides together) and leave the bottom open so you can add stuffing. Next, turn the stem, so that your right side is out and stuff.
Then take your orange pieces, lay them with the patterned sides together. Place the stem upside down, with the open side hanging out of the top. Place the other orange piece(right side down) on top. Pin together.

Sew around the pumpkin, leaving the bottom open so that you can stuff it. Turn it and add the stuffing.
Make a little bag out of spare fabric. Fill it with sand, beans, or rice. It helps the bag stand up. Add it to the bottom and then hand sew the opening shut.

Decorate the stem however you want. I tied raffia around this one. You can make a bow out of the left over fabric, anything you want. Then make each other pumpkin the same way, only a different size. You can't mess it up!! They are so cute and so easy. Good luck!! If you have questions, leave them and I will answer any!!

Has it really been one week since I posted?

What have I been doing? I really can't tell you. I didn't have my internet all last weekend or the 1st part of the week due to TV issues. And I tell you what...no internet is like not having water. I felt a little lost without it. (that sort of sounds pathetic, oh well, it is true)
Well a lot has gone on. My husband is having some stress. He is on a mission to save the fish at Fishlake. This last weekend there was a spearfishing tournament at Fishlake and the people involved killed a lot of big fish. Which Ryan states was illegal, because of the rules about taking more than one fish per person over 20 inches long. He has been so upset that they are allowing these people to do this. He has the whole town of fishermen all worked up. (this is him fishing in November at Fishlake. He is die hard, fishing while having to be dressed like that, dedicated or crazy??)
He has called a ton of people including DWR officers. This is totally out of character for him, because he is so unconfrontational (if that is even a word). He hates to raise a stink and hates to be in the spotlight, but he is so passionate about this lake. I love that he wants to do all that he can to save something that is so dear to him. This lake is like his second home. I have always heard that one person can make a difference, but never really thought it to be true. But I am slowly changing my mind. He is doing a lot and has a lot of people talking.

Next I want to have a giveaway!!
I want to give someone a set of the pumpkins that I made. How to win you ask?
I have a wall next to my dining room table that needs a saying in vinyl. I have been looking for something special and I have yet to find the perfect one. Keep in mind that this is where we eat breakfast together on the weekends and dinner together every night as a family. You can see it from the kitchen and from the front door. Leave me a comment with a saying, quote, or just great words. If I pick your suggestion you win! Now leave more than one if you want... and if you have never left a comment before, but check out this blog, now is the time to leave one. You could be the winner of these cute pumpkins!!
I will send them to you. You win and I win. I will then have my friends at Star Bright Lettering make me the vinyl and I will be super happy and you will have cute pumpkins!!

What's going on...

This week has been crazy and a little too short. I have been finishing up 2 rag blankets that I made for my uncles auction. For any one who is interested We are having a benefit Dinner/Dance/Auction in Minersville on Saturady the 4th of October. Dinner will begin at 5:00, followed by an auction, and then the dance. I am not 100% sure of all of the items there, but I do know that there will be recliners, quilts, a Mekita saw, drills, home de'cor items, and a half of a pork. We are all going down and I am excited to see family.

Last Sunday I bottled 18 bottles of tomatoe juice. My favorite mother-in-law gave me all of the things I would need to can for Christmas last year and it was the best gift ever. Although I stood in front of my stove from 12:00 until 8:00 at night, it was totally worth it. We love the juice and it is so much better for you than the store bought stuff.

I am officially doing the Mistletoe Mall and now I am trying to get everything done. I am very excited about it and also a little nervous. I hope to see you all there;)

I will post the instructions for the pumpkins (with pic included) just as soon as I get back to the quilting shop! I have to finish up the girls halloween costumes this weekend and then I will be albe to get to the pumpkins. We got a new HDTV and so my husband has resumed his spot in front of it with a baseball game on. I will have plenty of time to craft, now that he is glued to the new tube =)
